I first got in touch with the incredible effect of truly meaningful gifting back when I moved to germany for my arts study. Back then, I was working 2 jobs just to pay the bills, with little to no money or time left for anything else.
Like every year, christmas season came and I was not able to afford any presents for my friends or my family or even had the time to browse hours long through the stores to find the right presents.
But what I had were my wire wrapping supplies, a strong urge to create and the wish to give truly meaningful presents to my friends who had helped me find a foothold in germany, to my family who had supported me and my young siblings who I love so much.
So I sat down and thought about everyones personality, what they liked and how they spent their time and started to translate their unique personality into pieces of jewelry and asseccoires.
When I gave them these handmade pieces, I really wasn’t too sure if they’d like them. But to my surprise, they totally loved them and many oft them even started to wear or use them everyday.
But it did not end there.
People began asking me to create custom pieces for various occasions. For themselves or to give to someone else. They even started to pay me for these pieces which helped me a lot back then.
So not only this saved my christmas. It made everyone so happy and also created a small stream of income. But the most important of all: I truly felt a stronger emotional connection to my friends.
